CFC Construction promoted Sean Smith to president of the firm, according to a news release shared with Construction Dive July 11.
Smith previously led the Golden, Colorado-based firm’s business development efforts and served as vice president of preconstruction. He came to the company in 2018 and joined CFC’s executive team in 2020.

Smith, who serves on the board of directors of the Associated General Contractors of Colorado, previously ran his own development and general contracting business.
There, he managed everything from entitlements to project financing, material sourcing, subcontractor management and scheduling, and oversaw projects all the way to obtaining a certificate of occupancy. His projects have achieved LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Salt Lake City, Utah-based Big D Construction, which had $2.5 billion in revenue last year, bought CFC Construction in 2022.
CFC, which was founded in 1977, has continued to operate under its own name with local management in place since then. Founder EJ Olbright still serves as the firm’s chair and Smith will helm the firm under that same structure. The firm has built a range of projects, including high-rises, offices, hotels, resorts, multifamily, retail, government buildings and schools.
