I’m an interior designer – three design choices that need to be cancelled…they’re so ugly & totally tragic

by

A PROFESSIONAL interior designer has revealed the top three decor choices he believes are completely out of style.

Loren Kreiss, who is the CEO of his own interior design company based in the US, knows a thing or two about good taste in the home.

Regularly using his social media channels to share his opinions, the 42-year-old explained that he’s observed three different trends he believes must get cancelled.

The first one, according to the professional, is barn doors, which he said need “to get set out to pasture”.

He explained: “Unless you’re living on a farm or literally in a barn, there’s no reason to have them in your home.”

Second on his list is wine displays that aren’t temperature controlled.

This means wine racks or fixtures on the wall that aren’t refrigerated in order to ensure the quality remains the same as time goes on.

Loren explained that these are “functionless and ugly” before adding: “No one needs an ode to alcoholism.

“If you love wine, get temperature-controlled wine storage instead.”

And finally, his third point is to remove all animal prints from the home.

He said: “Unless you’re a zookeeper or Liberace, there’s no reason to have animal prints in your home.

“Sure they can be fun, but they’re almost always absolutely tragic. Save animal prints for your next pyjama party instead.”

In the caption of the post, TikTok user @lorenkreiss asked: “Who agrees?” and many flocked to the comments section to reply.

“Animal prints in small amounts can be great,” one person shared.

Another said: “I agree with the first 2. But animal print can be fun with the right aesthetic and vibe.”

A third wrote: “I have the coolest – retro animal print chairs – I feel they are unique and super funky!!!!”

While a fourth added: “Disagree about the incredible wine bars that display in its own art form in a household when done well”.

Loren, however, disagreed as he replied: “Design that lacks function and purpose is always a no”.

The interior designer has an incredible track record as he’s previously designed the homes of high profile celebrities, including Matthew McConaughey, DJ Khaled and Magic Johnson.

With so many names to back him up it’s no wonder why over 169,000 people follow him on TikTok, while another 76,600 people follow him on Instagram.

Loren isn’t the only interior designer with strong opinions, however, as one pro previously shared the top mistakes that make a home look cheap.

While another revealed the trend they think is the worst and admitted they even turn down clients who have it in their homes.

Have you made any of these interior mistakes?
