Turner wins $186M NY healthcare tower job

by

Turner Construction won a $186 million contract to build a five-story patient care tower on Westchester Medical Center’s Valhalla, New York, campus, the contractor announced Oct. 9.

The structure will house an additional 96 hospital beds for patients who need trauma, neuroscience, cardiology and general surgery care, while enhancing training for medical residents and students.

All inpatient rooms will be private, according to the release, and ICU rooms will have windows to provide natural light for patients.

Enabled by $195 million in bond financing approved by the Westchester County Local Development Corporation, the project will create 250 construction jobs and 127 full-time jobs in the completed facility, according to the release.

New York City-based Turner recently celebrated another healthcare construction milestone in New York state. In September, it announced the groundbreaking of a $650 million renovation for Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester, where it is working with Rochester-based Pike Construction Services.

At the Westchester project, construction is set to begin at the end of the year, with the 162,000-square-foot facility slated to open in 2026.
