Jackson Design & Remodeling’s award-winning designers and architects have revealed their annual list of the top trends for the new year, expecting that 2024 home designs will be inspired by staycations, dream destinations and a warmer take on minimalism.
Joy and positivity are making an impression with imaginative combinations of style, texture, pattern and color.
“Relaxing home design that balances simplicity and luxury with the calming influence of greenery and the tranquility of a Bali retreat will continue to gain in popularity in 2024,” according to Jackson Design & Remodeling senior interior designer Jen Pinto.
Color trends this year range from nature-inspired blues and greens to soft and warm pastels. Pantone unveiled “Peach Fuzz” as its 2024 color of the year, describing it as “a clean peach tone with a vintage vibe.”
Jackson Design & Remodeling’s design team, which has been featured in major national print and online publications, shares its list of top interior design trends:
Dopamine decor
This high-energy trend experiments with a free mix of bold colors and patterns. Tempted to wallpaper your powder room in animal print or paint a living room wall hot pink? This is the trend to inspire you.
Organic modern design
Organic modern style is becoming a classic, especially in California. A connection to nature is emphasized with elements of modern design.
Farmcore simplicity
Embracing the charm of simpler living, farmcore is a progression of cottagecore, with a more rustic take on the concept.
Barkitecture
From electronic entrance doors to custom-designed feeding stations and showers, barkitecture blends the needs of pets with high-end architecture and design.
Biophilic design
Homes that connect us more deeply to nature stimulate all the senses. Think indoor gardens, or outdoor living spaces that integrate seamlessly with your interior.
Minimaluxe
This less-is-more “quiet luxury” aesthetic is expressed with comfortable, pared-back yet opulent statement elements that aim to make a space look less “decorated.”
Japandi
Japanese and Scandinavian design are the perfect duo to accomplish serene functionality in your home. Japandi takes a casual, easygoing approach to minimalism.
Retro remix
Expressing individuality is big in 2024. Mixing styles from different eras, such as Mid-Century, the 1970s and the 1980s, makes a highly personal statement.
Chic contrast
Pattern and texture are coming to the forefront with extravagant combinations of contrasting colors and materials to create a tactile and visual experience.
Modern Balinese
Inspired by the tropical luxury of a Balinese indoor/outdoor oasis, modern Balinese design balances a peaceful island vibe with the clean lines of a modern home for the ultimate open and airy refuge.
Sustainability endures
Reclaimed materials and renewable resources continue to be essential to eco-conscious homeowners who want to consume less.
Staycation style
The dream to bring resort living home is materializing in spa-like bathrooms and expansive outdoor living spaces. Who doesn’t love the feeling of living in a luxury five-star hotel?
Warm is the new cool
Warm neutrals are overtaking cool grays this year. The new beige is softer, lighter and creamier, while ivory and cream are new alternatives to white.
Statement floors
From classic checkerboard tile to darker flooring with bold patterns, fresh ideas in flooring are underfoot in 2024. Wood flooring remains a timeless choice, trending toward natural variations.
