Danish interior design label HAY has tapped Liberty London, the celebrated British print house, to create a line of blossoming, textile-focused lampshades.
For the collaboration, Mette Hay, co-founder of HAY, selected five patterns from Liberty’s renowned floral catalog and rendered them as pleated lampshades for the brand’s flagship model: the Martin lamp, thought up by French designer Inga Sempé. The graphics include “Mitsi,” which houses a bountiful array of cherry blossoms; “Ros,” a viola design; “Besty Ann,” which is miniature version of Liberty’s signature Besty illustrations; “Ed,” a fruitful rosehip print; and Cherry Drop, which offers a healthy serving of bright cherries.
HAY recommends pairing each lampshade with the contemporary Martin table lamp base, which features a bent steel wire frame with brass finishes. Notably, the lighting design, which measures just over 15 inches tall and utilizes an integrated LED light source, offers the ability to adjust brightness through an in-line dimmer switch. The lamp’s shade can be switched out at any point to satisfy consumers’ likings.
HAY’s Liberty London lampshade collaboration is now available to shop on Liberty London’s webstore, as well as in HAY’s Tokyo and Osaka outposts. Pricing starts at $99 USD. Take a look at the collection in the gallery above.
