In her video, Mudhurrah (@designmstudio) explained the importance of planning ahead when decorating your home.

For her first tip, the TikToker advised her audience against “impulse buying without a plan.”

“Selecting finishes and purchasing furniture on impulse, without a clear plan or vision for the overall design, can result in a mismatched and cluttered look,” she explained.

Mudhurrah pointed out that without planning, your “items may fail to complement each other or fit well within the space.”

“Before committing to unnecessary expenses on items that don’t contribute to a cohesive design, it’s crucial to consider color schemes, overall style, and the size of the space,” she said.

The decor expert expanded more on the importance of scale and proportion.

“Choosing finishes and furniture that are either too large or too small for your space can make it look cramped, empty, and unbalanced,” she told her viewers.

“It’s essential to measure your space, including ceiling heights, and carefully consider the scale of each piece before making a purchase,” Mudhurrah said.

“Ensuring furniture fits comfortably within the room and relates well to other items prevents costly mistakes.”

Finally, she advised her followers against “prioritizing trends over timeless elements.”

“Constantly chasing fleeting trends can lead to frequent renovations and updates, resulting in unnecessary expenses and a lack of design continuity,” she explained.

“To avoid this, it’s important to identify personal style preferences and invest in elements that withstand changing trends.”

However, Mudhurrah pointed out that trendy elements can still be incorporated into the space “through easily replaceable items like decor pieces.”

She explained that this allows for” updates without incurring major costs.
