An Interior Design Masters contestant ruffled a few feathers by hanging a ‘blasphemous’ picture in the room he was renovating.
Anthony, a former musical theatre actor, was among the fresh batch of wannabe interior designers tasked with redecorating a bedroom in a Norfolk B&B when the BBC show presented by Alan Carr returned on Tuesday.
But the Liverpudlian’s decision to style the room around a huge picture of a nun smoking a cigarette in a building that was formerly a convent shocked judge Michelle Ogundehin.
Scolding Anthony, the magazine editor warned him that he was nearly evicted over the black and white poster, which she blasted as ‘inappropriate.’
Some viewers on X were on Michelle’s side, with account Trout Pout agreeing: ‘Yikes, bestie.’
AJ, meanwhile, couldn’t resist a little dig and described the picture as ‘a bit B&M.’
Mark also saw the lighter side and joked: ‘Obsessed with poor Anthony getting a b*****king for his “offensive” poster, when only 20 minutes ago him & Alan were cackling over it in the garden.’

Others, however, endorsed Anthony’s design choice, with Kelli exclaiming: ‘I like the “blasphemous” nun!’
Anthony first unveiled the black and white in the garden of the hotel, admitting that it ‘could be a little bit controversial.’
‘But it’s totally my design style: it’s bold, it creates an opinion and it should be good,’ he continued.

However, he may have not got the reaction he hoped for when Alan, 47, approached and immediately gasped upon looking at the picture.
Alan blurted out: ‘What is this? Isn’t that sacrilegious? We’re in a convent!’

During the elimination, however, Anthony was scolded by Michelle for failing to grasp the ‘context.’
She fumed: ‘I have to tell you you were one step away from the sofa for the poster that you used on the wardrobe.
‘This was a former covent gifted by nuns to the charity; being appropriate and context is everything.’

Anthony took her criticism in his stride and replied: ‘Sure, I get that. I’m here to learn week on week.’
Despite the telling off, Anthony sailed through to the next round with Sheree becoming the first designer to be sent home.
This year, the winner of Interior Design Masters will get the chance to release a product line with La Redoute.
Interior Design Masters continues on Tuesday at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
