REDDING, Ca. — Downtown Redding has a new storefront in a rather prominent portion of Market Street.
“Curated,” an interior design store, held its official ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday morning. The store is located just behind the downtown Redding sign, inside what used to be ‘Plant Daddy.’ The owner, Dustyn Kellar, is an OR nurse at Mercy Medical who started her own interior design business five years ago. In February, she turned her passion and side hustle into a physical location.
“I guess it was just a pipe dream,” Kellar told KRCR. “It was something that I didn’t know I would actually do. But I knew it was something that I loved going to, I would seek out. Anytime we were on vacation, I was looking for places like this, a store like this. And I would always imagine my own so for it to come to fruition is amazing.”
“I’m super excited that my family is doing this with me. I wrote a year in my life in ten years like, probably five years ago. And it was just this,” Kellar added.
Kellar says she originally intended to open a space just for her existing clients but loved the idea of creating a “living store” that brought in a variety of crowds. Curator offers a plethora of household decor items (i.e. couches, recliners, pillows, rugs, paintings), all of which Kellar herself picks out from furniture markets.
“It’s a curation of items that I loved bringing into people’s homes, things that I bring in that can elevate the look. I feel like everything that we’ve purchased is very thoughtful.”
Curated is open Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1401 Market Street.
