My tiny home interior design tips maximize space – get my ‘best friend’ kitchen appliances and a ‘savior’ for bedrooms

LEARNING to make the most out of your space in a small home can make a big difference.

One interior design pro has just the trick to add the illusion of more square footage while making cluttered areas seem more coordinated.

Katie Geddes of Katie Geddes Interiors shared her tiny home tips with Wren Kitchens.

“To maximize space, invest in items that can perform multiple tasks,” she said.

She recommends items such as coffee machines that can also make other beverages, as well as cooking pots that are oven-safe and can perform multiple functions, such as boiling and steaming.

“Every square inch of your kitchen is precious real estate, so multi-tasking appliances really are your best friends here,” she said.

One such multi-tasking item is the portable Aeropress coffee and espresso maker that can be purchased on Amazon for $39.95.

With a patented three-in-one brew technology, it’s described as the only press that combines agitation and pressure with micro-filtration so you can use finer coffee.

Hot water is pushed through the grinds, quickly aerating and extracting only the purest flavors while keeping bitterness at bay.

The affordable and efficient buy also makes regular coffee, cold brew, and espresso-style coffee.

She also wants you to consider storage options aside from cabinets.

Instead, she advises storing pans on a ceiling rack over the stove.

Aside from looking “super cool,” it also saves “a load of space.”

If your kitchen isn’t conducive to storing things on the ceiling, you can simply hang them on a rack on a nearby wall to get the same effect.

Geddes also wants to get you the most bang for your bedroom buck.

“Bed risers are a savior in a tiny home!” she said.

You’ll instantly gain tons more storage under your bed and make things clearer to see by labeling clear bins.

A vintage trunk at the end of your bed is another way to add seating while also serving as a decorative place to display items – it can be used to store off-season clothing and other accessories.

To reduce clutter in a small bathroom, she recommends a medicine cabinet to organize all of your items.

Just don’t forget about the most “underused spot” in the bathroom – your door.

“Replace the robe hook with an over-the-door rack to double your storage space,” she said.

This is especially ideal for storing linens.
