- Edmonton, Alberta-based builder PCL has begun the second phase of construction on the $350 million Scotiabank Arena Reimagination project, which will overhaul seating, amenities and facilities at the Toronto arena, the builder announced last month.
- Phase 2 of the project is two parts: PCL will work on part one up through October 2024, which includes the renovation of the 100 Level concourse and the construction of a brand-new luxury club space, per the release. For part two, which will run from the fall through spring 2025, the builder will complete the 100 Level seating and an arena-wide audiovisual system and Wi-Fi enhancement.
- The contractor, which headquarters its U.S. operations in Denver, has been working on the project since 2019, when it completed a preliminary phase of work and added a 2,200-square-foot LED video board in Maple Leaf Square, a public square next to the arena. It also installed two large-scale screens in the Galleria, a walkway in the arena and LED color-changing arena signage, per the release.

PCL’s other work on the arena, which is the home of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and NBA’s Toronto Raptors, includes:
- The addition of a second, 2,600 square-foot apparel retail store on the 100 Level concourse.
- The conversion of apparel kiosks on the 100 Level into mini walk-in shops equipped with rotating walls and digital signage.
- The remodeling and addition of more inclusive and accessible spaces onto the 100 Level concourse including an infant feeding room, prayer room and all-gendered bathrooms.
- The implementation of secure, frictionless security screening at entry to help fans get into the venue as quickly as possible.
PCL completed Phase 1 of work in October 2023, per the release. The builder performed a complete remodel of all Mastercard-branded executive suites on the 200 Level along with a member’s space called the Mastercard Lounge.
“Following the successful completion of the first phase of renovations last summer, the second phase of the complex renovation will again be delivered through a fast-track schedule starting ahead of and carrying through the 2024-2025 Maple Leaf and Raptors seasons,” said Marc Pascoli, senior vice president and district manager of PCL Constructors Canada, in the release.
PCL has been busy with its stadium projects. The firm is also working on renovations at the Rogers Centre, home of the MLB’s Toronto Blue Jays, to the tune of $300 million, and at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles for an undisclosed sum.
