‘Plant for the pollinators!’ weekly Garden Photo Contest winner
Many gardeners design and plant their spaces for what they’ll attract. JoAnne Harmon writes, “My perennial garden is a welcome spot for bees, butterflies and hummingbirds, and I love all the activity they bring to the yard!” The Oxford resident says her lush, colorful garden is full of perennials such as allium, daisies, black-eyed Susans, coneflowers, bee balm, sedum and butterfly bush, backed by ‘Limelight’ hydrangeas. As this week’s winner, Harmon will receive a home or garden book and will compete for the grand prize — a $200 gift certificate to English Gardens — through online voting by Homestyle readers from Sept. 3 to Sept. 10. A winner will be announced Sept. 13. Enter your photos at detroitnews.com/gardenphotos24. And don’t forget to share what makes them special to you, what flowers you used, or what inspires you. Submissions will be accepted until noon Aug. 19.
