SHREWSBURY ― The Shrewsbury location of LL Flooring is set to permanently close after the company, formerly known as Lumber Liquidators, announced a company-wide shuttering of all its locations amidst a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, according to a letter penned by its CEO Charles Tyson.
The location is on Route 20, less than a mile west of the Route 9 interchange.
Last month, the company started winding down business at another Central Massachusetts location, in Leominster, one of 94 stores it said it would close at the time.

More than 300 stores, including the Shrewsbury location, remained open as the Richmond, Virginia-headquartered company looked for a buyer to keep them in business.
But in Friday’s letter, Tyson wrote that negotiations “have not resulted in an offer.”
“As a result, it is with a heavy heart that we must let you know that we are going to begin the process of winding down LL Flooring’s business and closing all of our stores,” Tyson wrote. “This is not the outcome that any of us had hoped for.”
Starting in 1993, LL Flooring specialized in selling and installing different types of flooring, including wood and carpet, according to its website.
At its height, it ran over 400 stores in 47 states.
When it first announced the bankruptcy in an Aug. 11 letter, the company attributed its plight to slowing home sales and high interest rates that contributed to a slump in the home improvement market.
In that same letter, the company said that it received $130 million in Chapter 11 financing, funded through existing lenders led by Bank of America.
Tyson’s letter said the company is starting closing sales for all the remaining stores on Friday.
“Closing sales will be held over the subsequent approximately 12 weeks with the timing of closures varying from store to store,” Tyson wrote.
