Thankfully an interior designer has shared her top tips to transform any dull room and make it look more expensive with a cheap buy from B&Q.

Speaking to Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing on their podcast, Newlyweds, the home expert revealed she was currently working with the couple to transform their home.
Jojo owns House Nine, an interior design company with a focus on traditional and elegant styles.
While discussing all things interior design savvy Jamie quickly asked how people can make a house instantly look more expensive even if they didn’t have the budget for pricey things.
Jojo revealed her top budgeting hacks to elevate any boring room.
The first thing she recommends for a lifeless room was to add panelling.
“It adds interest and it allows you to break up paint colours, it’s one of my favourite things to do in a room and it’s pretty affordable.
Nowadays you can literally buy packs off B&Q and do it yourself.”
You can buy a pack of panelling wood from the DIY store for as little as £15.
“It adds architectural interest into a room,” the design pro added.
She also said painting was another simple way to transform a room and play with colours.

Another top tip from Jojo if you didn’t want to fork out on new furniture to update a room was to accessorise.
Instead of buying a brand new sofa – she suggested using cushions and blankets to update it instead.
And for those who were currently decorating their home and coming across hurdles Jojo had some advice to share.
She revealed that often times when we get stuck and are unsure on how to continue the makeover it means something is wrong.

She claimed ‘design paralysis’ was usually a sign something wasn’t working and to take a step back instead of pushing on.
Jojo who has been designing homes and hotels for years revealed it was also super common to argue with your spouse during the process.
With so much change going on and so much money being spend she said it was inevitable and had seen it time and time again – so don’t take it as your relationship falling apart.
One way to help ease the tension she said was to move out of the property being renovated if possible so you aren’t surrounded by mess and builders all the time.
