The British design and engineering company, Callum, has unveiled the interior design for the on-road focused version of its Callum Skye model. The car has been launched in on- and off-road specifications to focus the multi-terrain electric vehicle’s performance characteristics. For those who will spend most of their time on the road, Callum launched the Dynamic version with a road-going setup. The off-road focused version is aptly named Capable – the interior for which will be revealed in 2025 – and is expected to have a more rugged theme.
Aleck Jones, head of design at Callum, said: “While the Callum Skye is capable and has a rugged exterior, the interior design is carefully and considerately refined to deliver a premium feel at every touchpoint. Clever design solutions keep the interior simple but not simplistic, giving it a light, airy and refined feel while being within a compact cabin. Its success is down to its careful balance of opposing factors, baked into an exterior that people understand and enjoy.”

Atop the minimalistic dashboard is an instrument binnacle and a touchscreen which comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Between the front passengers, there’s a floating centre console with climate control rotary dials and two cupholders beneath. Color accents throughout the interior match the customer’s chosen exterior paint color. The interior project was completed in collaboration with Bridge of Weir Leather to achieve a luxury finish throughout.
Callum’s colour, material and finish designer, Charlotte Jones, said: “We’ve had challenging weight targets to achieve, so we’ve utilised lightweight solutions where possible without compromising on the luxury feel. Inside, the bright silver, premium metallic coated finish on the doors, dash and centre console matches the CALLUM level of quality in our recent Jaguar C-X75 project while saving essential weight. Additionally, this prototype features body panels made from flax composite with bio-resin, which is being explored as a potential option for production models.”

Jones added: “This has been an incredibly intricate and precise project undertaken by the team at Bridge of Weir’s Advanced Design Studio. The quality of Bridge of Weir’s leather is unsurpassed and it has been fantastic to utilise its exciting digital printing technology, which has allowed us to add further design accents and nods to Callum’s history. We are particularly excited about the personalisation options Skye offers – both inside and out – and are keen to explore these alongside our customers, supporting them to create one-of-a-kind Callum Skye vehicles.”
The Callum Skye was first revealed in May 2024, designed to offer excellent on- and off-road driving characteristics. It’s powered by a 42kWh battery which is expected to provide a range of around 170 miles on a single charge. The Skye has compact packaging to measure in at just 4,047mm long and 1,900mm with a weight of just 1,150kg. Callum is targeting a 0 to 60 mph time of under four seconds, giving the Skye sportscar performance and off-roading prowess.
