There’s something so powerful about a fresh coat of paint. That’s why we’ve researched the best paint colors to update your kitchen, how to pick the right paint color for any room, and even the best paint color for your zodiac sign, among many, many other paint-centric angles. When studying these trends and classic color choices, though, so often, we focus on floor-to-ceiling coats, often encompassing full rooms. But what about when you just want a nice accent? You could home in on your trim, or if you want a bit more of a pop, you might reconsider the color of your interior doors.
Today, we’re here to focus on the latter. We chatted with three designers to outline the best interior door colors in 2025. Keep reading to uncover the inspo for your next home transformation.

White
White doors aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but depending on your chosen color, you can add a crisp effect throughout the home, or a warm and cozy one.
“Benjamin Moore Cloud Cover is the perfect white that does not have yellow or blue undertones, and can go with pretty much every complementary color paint or wallpaper,” says Ridge Residential Design founder, Kristin Farnan, noting that it’s a great choice not only for doors but all rooms, too.
Meanwhile, Liz Williams Interiors founder and Principal Designer Liz Williams suggests Benjamin Moore White Dove. “White Dove is our go-to for walls and trim, and, of course, doors,” she says. “It works so well with both warm and cool colors, and flows throughout a home.”
If you prefer a slightly cozier shade of white, MR Architecture + Decor Senior Associate William Clukies recommends Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace. “Chantilly Lace is always at the top of our list of whites,” he says. “It stays neutral without going warm or cool and pairs well with stone.”
Gray
If you live in a farmhouse or more modern space, Farnan says to consider gray interior doors.
“Benjamin Moore Kendall Charcoal exudes warmth and a pop of darker color against a lighter wall,” she explains. “It’s beautiful to accent a bedroom, but could also live all over the home.”
Williams is also a fan of gray interior doors, specifically in Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray. “This warm, neutral gray makes for a great accent or complement to light walls,” she reveals. “I personally have Chelsea Gray interior doors with White Dove walls throughout my house, and I love the soft contrast.”
If you’re hoping for even more of an accent, though—and are willing to move beyond a coat of paint—Clukies suggests gray-stained and cerused oak doors. “[They] add a more finished feel to an entrance hall or more formal rooms,” he explains, pointing out that Rubio Monocoat Precolor Easy in the shade Urban Grey works well. Black
While gray doors can add a cool, moodiness to a space, black interior doors take it a step further.
“For a modern design style, black communicates luxury and is a nice accent to a family room or living room,” Farnan says. “Benjamin Moore Black Satin is not too stark and effortlessly looks beautiful on interior doors.”
Another standout Benjamin Moore shade? Onyx. “Onyx is subdued and elegant, especially when it is used for a door in a black wall,” Clukies says. “This looks great on a TV wall in a bedroom or media room.”
Blue
Just as blue paint colors have been trending for all over the home, blue interior doors are on the rise in 2025, as well.
“Benjamin Moore Boothbay Gray is a perfect blue-gray paint color that is soft and luxurious, great for a family room, bedroom, [or] laundry room,” Farnan says.
For a slightly darker, dustier blue hue, Williams suggests Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue. “Stiffkey Blue is a rich, moody hue that’s not quite navy but adds a bit of sophistication to a room,” she points out. “It is a great color for laundry room and mudroom doors, but is also refined enough for a study door or in more formal spaces.”

Soft Sage Green
For a fresh-yet-cozy cottage feel, Farnan says you can’t go wrong with a soft sage green. “For those who have a more earthy design style, these soft greens are a pretty pop of color,” she reveals, noting that they’re especially great for first-floor interior doors. Her top picks? Benjamin Moore Saybrook Sage and Farrow & Ball Pigeon.
If neutral-leaning green hues better fit your fancy, Clukies proposes Benjamin Moore Sage Mountain. “Sage Mountain—a green-gray taupe—creates a subdued atmosphere that feels right in a room like a kitchen,” he says.
For a slightly brighter green door moment, Williams recommends Farrow & Ball Yeabridge Green. “For a fresh pop of green, Yeabridge Green is a favorite,” she admits. “We recently painted the door in our office this color. It is a happy green that pairs well with many other colors. This color is great when you want to make a statement!”
On the other hand, if you’re not quite ready to go full green on your interior doors, you can opt for more of a beige-ish light green, like Farrow & Ball Churlish Green. “Churlish Green has a very yellow base and is a fun, more chartreuse green,” Williams says. “It looks great in a high gloss finish and is a fun accent with other shades of green, as well as blues and browns. We recently used this color for double pantry doors with some fun, jewelry-like hardware and it was very chic.”
